Little Artists Get Creative!

The Buzzing Art Room: Messy, Colourful, and Skill-Building.

I spoke to many parents who home educate who have mentioned “We love the freedom, but finding the right clubs is hard… especially for Sport and Art.” I generally listen to them to keep the conversation flowing and one day it hit me. Those two subjects are right up my street because I teach both. So instead of waiting for the “perfect” space to pop up, I thought, why not build it? So, I launched the Artful Ed Club.

I wanted a place where home ed groups, and yes, it’s open to everyone can turn up, settle in, and just create. There is no pressure, no “do it this way”, no awkward vibes. Just a fun and friendly atmosphere where kids can explore colour, shape, texture, and actually feel proud of what they create.

Since launching, I’ve been running classes across London; Tower Hamlets, Barking, and Camden, and the atmosphere has genuinely been a vibe. The kind where you look around and see kids fully locked in, mixing colours like little pros, layering bold strokes, experimenting with patterns, and surprising themselves with how good their artwork turns out.

Some moments from the sessions have stayed with me. Watching a table of young artists quietly focused, building up their pieces step-by-step, composition coming together, details popping, colours getting richer. Seeing kids from the day before returning with even more confidence, like they’d unlocked a new level overnight.

The parent’s support was honestly amazing. Not just compliments, but thoughtful feedback too. The kind that helps me shape the sessions so different children’s needs are met, whether they’re super confident or a bit shy and need encouragement. One parent said: “A fantastic group of talented artists displaying their creative skills at the Artful Ed art workshop today. I am very impressed, MashaAllah TabarakAllah.”

That’s exactly what I’m trying to build. A space where young people can develop real creative skills and feel seen while they do it.

I also want to say a big thank you as some families travelled in from far out just to make it, and I genuinely appreciate it. JazaakumAllahu khayran for trusting me with your children’s creative time. That means a lot.

And because the sessions were so lively, I ended up putting together a short reel showing some of the artwork and the atmosphere. The energy was buzzing.

This is just the beginning. I’ll be running more Artful Ed Club sessions soon, and I want to make sure parents can catch the next one in their area.

If you want in on the next round, join the newsletter so you’re the first to hear about new class dates. And if you’ve got a topic you’d love your child to learn next time whether its painting, sketching, colour mixing, abstract, landscapes, Islamic patterns, calligraphy-style art, etc, send me a message and I put something together.

Watch this space. New classes and creative projects are on the way.
